Care Home
Jacob’s provides 24 hour care with a full time nurse, a visiting doctor and caring, understanding staff. Jacob’s is known
as a family home rather than an institution and visitors are always welcome. Some of the residents were brought to the
Care Home from the local Government Hospital so they can recover and convalesce after an accident or illness, possibly to
return to independence or a long-lost family. Or to make Jacob’s their home.
Those who are sick, or have terminal illnesses are helped and nursed not only by Jacob’s staff, but also by the other
residents. Jacob’s is working with the
Global Pathways School,
recently set up in Chettipalayam. Jacob's cooks meals for the schoolchildren, who visit frequently to spend time with
the residents. They sometimes sing and dance, or just talk and play games with the elderly people. Some of the more
able residents help out at the school - working together in this way creates an important bond between the old and the
younger generations.
